TIRUCHI:
Establishing trust among employees by living as a role model is the key
to success of an entrepreneur, according to K. Subburaj, Chairman, Cethar
Vessels Limited, Tiruchi.
At the outset, alongside determining the quantum of business, the level of investment required, an understanding of clients and the approach of entrepreneurs already in the similar activity, one must also be prepared to avert failure by way of exiting from the business at the appropriate time, he said, speaking on ‘Growth Management’ at a meeting organised by the Tiruchi District Tiny and Small Scale Industries’ Association on Sunday. In the initial stages, entrepreneurs should get their priorities right, focussing entirely on the development of business by orienting their familial and social relationships accordingly. It is important to bear in mind that the company’s money is not own money. One cannot be certain about permanency of profits, he cautioned, in order to insist that spending must be directed towards productive purpose. A prospective entrepreneur must develop a desire and work towards achieving it with a target-oriented approach. Banks will never hesitate to fund projects of entrepreneurs with the right approach. Identifying the right human resource based on capacities, and being certain of the extent of money that must be spent on technology and organisation is essential for managing growth. Through creating layers of leadership in the organisation, and defining the professional roles of employees at different levels, entrepreneurs can not only ensure that the continuity of success in their absence, but also devote time for expansion, he pointed out. TIDITSSIA president S. Sridharan said the session was meant to orient entrepreneurs to risk taking, facing challenges, and planning well for growth, change and innovation in the context of economic globalisation. |
